CORK TRIO GREENSHINE, CELEBRATE ‘NEW MOON ON FRIDAY’ WITH TIN CHURCH CONCERT

Cork family trio, Greenshines’ albums are known to be an eclectic mix of genres which dovetail perfectly thanks to their harmonies, instrumentation and production style. For their critically acclaimed latest album, NEW MOON ON FRIDAY, the band was interested in exploring their Country, Americana and American Folk influences and the collection features their original songs along with some classic covers.

One such cover is Jimmy Webb’s beautiful ‘Wichita Lineman which was received very favourably by the great songwriter himself. What a boost for the band and especially for Ellie who sang lead on the track, as Wichita Lineman is her favourite song of all time. To have the endorsement of the writer is really special. While NEW MOON ON FRIDAY is an eclectic mix, it’s a smorgasbord that’s laid out in the broad church that is Country. On here you’ll find styles that range from Classic Country Torch Songs, through Southern Gothic Country, to Carter Family inspired American Folk. Several singles from the album have appeared on the RTE Radio 1 Recommends list and the album has been ‘Album Of The Week’ on many stations including BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster and many radio stations around Ireland.

Greenshine make a welcome return to Monaghan when they play the beautiful TIN CHURCH in Laragh on Saturday 2 September. You can expect harmonies, stories and the friendly banter for which this family trio is known. The concert kicks off at 8pm.

I have to say how much I admire an act that that are unafraid to sound so different with each release yet still sound like themselves. Greenshine do this. It’s a proper skill ,” Enda Guinan, Obsession Digital Radio.
